Gavers Community Cancer Foundation

“Thanks again for creating and implementing a terrific website for our organization! I was very impressed from our first meeting through the creation of a plan, a design, and then the ultimate implementation.

You and your team were easy to work with and very responsive. This new website project was very important to the Gavers Community Cancer Foundation because it is the portal that we use to process all tickets, volunteer sign registrations, and sponsorships for our annual Barndance event. You guys hit it out of the park!”

-Andy Hartlieb, V.P., Gavers Community Cancer Foundation

About The Foundation

Gavers Community Foundation was founded by Steve Gavers after winning has battle with cancer. In its 15 year history, Gavers Community Foundation has raised more than $6 million in gross receipts. There are no paid directors, officers or employees. The foundation is run on volunteers and 100% of the proceeds go to cancer programs.

The Challenge

Every year Gavers hosts their biggest fundraiser event of the year, Barndance. Gavers was in need of a website that could give all of the volunteers of Gavers the tools they needed to make Barndance a success. There are a number of areas where the current process was difficult. The website’s goal was to inform the public about the event and Gavers, allowing volunteers to signup up for tasks and spots, allow sponsors to sign up and pay for sponsorship & underwriting opportunities as well as let the public buy tickets. In addition to this, the website needed to be thought out, designed, developed and tested in 4 weeks.

The Work

Lucca Alla Moda immediately began the project with a kickoff meeting and got to work. After understanding all of the needs and being given creative control, we turned around the initial concept within 4 days. Revisions and changes were completed shortly after and we were off to development. To reduce maintenance costs, the website is built on WordPress to allow the Gavers staff to easily maintain the website going forward. The website is responsive to give an optimal experience regardless of the visitors device.

A new volunteer feature was added to the website which allows Gavers to create new tasks and slots for the Barndance events. Volunteers are then able to visit the website and add their name to the tasks they want to volunteer for. This tedious process is now automated making it much easier to manage and track where everyone should be.

Gavers can now allow businesses, individuals and organizations to signup and pay for sponsorship opportunities within the website and can easily modify the forms as they change year to year. Custom integration with Bluepay was created to process credit cards.

A Barndance section was designed to act as a central hub for all Barndance related news and activities. Visitors can easily buy tickets for the event and raffle events, pay securely online and have their receipt emailed to them. A general donation page was also created to help gain donations year round and for those who are not able to attend Barndance but still want to support this great foundation.

In the end, Gavers now has a new website that helps to inform the public and donors about their cause, reduces work and costs for the foundation with powerful yet easy-to-use website and aids in raising more funds to fight cancer.
