Plumbing and electrical marketing

Plumber and electrician SEO for the burst pipe and the panel upgrade.

Half your work is an emergency and the other half is planned, and those are two different customers who find you two different ways. Plumbing marketing, for us, is catching both: the listing and the ads for the burst pipe, the site and the reviews for the bathroom, run for plumbing and electrical contractors around Rockford.

Proof, from the search box.

What people in Rockford typed into Google each month for the last year, from Google's own numbers. The plumber search is flat all year, which means it is never quiet and never a rush: it is the map, every day, that decides who gets the call. Pick either one up.

Two customers

A burst pipe at two in the morning and a bathroom in March.

Two people, two searches, two different pages. Flip between them and read what each one sees with your name on it, and what decides each call.

Nobody shops around with water on the floor. They type it, they look at the map, and they call the first one that says Open now and is close. What decides it: the listing's hours and service area, whether the phone is answered, and Local Services Ads with the badge on, because at two in the morning that is the top of the page.

Local Services Ads, for the trades

Which one of these is you?

Six lines we hear from plumbing and electrical contractors on first calls, and one of them is usually yours. Pick it and we will tell you what is actually going on underneath.

The fastest fix on this page

For an emergency trade the call that goes to voicemail is gone, and it went to the next listing before you heard the beep. Before anybody spends on marketing we look at what happens to a call at seven on a Sunday, because there is no point buying more of something that rings out.

Start with a plan
Two trades, two sets of searches

Most shops that do both are set up in Google as one and rank for one. Categories, services and a real page for each side of the business is how a plumbing company starts turning up for electrician searches it was already qualified for.

How we run the listing
The words, not the volume

Free estimate shoppers and price checkers come from broad terms and a broad radius. Tightening what the ads answer to, and being honest on the page about call-out charges, filters more of it out than any script at the counter can.

How we run the ads
It is the whole ballgame here

For a trade chosen in under a minute, reviews are most of what the choosing is done on. We build the asking into the end of the job so it happens without anybody remembering, and every review gets an answer in your voice within a day.

How reviews move the map
Three get called, not nine

The map shows three, and being fourth is being invisible. Which three depends on distance, categories, reviews and how recently the listing was touched, and three of those four are things you can actually move.

How local search works
The planned half needs a page

The emergency customer never reads it. The panel upgrade, the repipe and the bathroom customer reads all of it, twice, and then rings. A page per real service, with photographs and a plain explanation of what it costs to start, is what turns that reading into a call.

How we build sites

All of it, for a plumbing and electrical contractor.

Plumber SEO and the map are where most plumbing and electrical contractors start with us, and search is one of six things we run. Here is the whole shop, in your situation.

The first ninety days, for a plumbing and electrical contractor.

In the order the phone feels it. The emergency customer first, because that is the one who calls tonight.

Weeks one and twoThe map and the phone

Categories, service area, hours with the after-hours line, every review answered in your voice, and call tracking on from day one. The Local Services Ads account built and verified, because the badge takes weeks and the burst pipe does not wait.

Local Services Ads, for the trades
Weeks three to sixThe site, for the customer with time

Fast on a phone, the work photographed and shown, a page for every service and every town in the words people type, and a visit booked without a call. If the site is sound we fix it; if it is not, we say so.

What we build
Weeks seven to twelveReviews rolling, ads on, the first report

A review ask built into every finished job, the ads live for both customers, and the first monthly report: which calls came from the map, which from the ads, which from the site.

Questions plumbers and electricians ask before they call us.

The ones that come up on nearly every first call, answered here so you do not have to spend a call getting to them.

Fixing the Google Business Profile can move the map inside a few weeks, because categories, service area and hours are set rather than earned. Ranking for terms like water heater replacement in a given town takes a few months and then keeps building. If the phone has to ring this week, that is paid, and we will say so rather than sell you search and hope.

Usually yes, and often before anything else paid. Google Guaranteed sits above the map, charges per lead rather than per click, and suits an urgent trade. It needs the license and insurance verification done properly and the bad leads actually disputed, which is the part most shops skip and then wonder why the cost per lead looks wrong.

Two, and usually two sets of categories on the listing as well. They are different searches made by different people, and one page trying to answer both ranks for neither. It is the most common thing we fix on a shop that does both.

Mostly by narrowing what the ads answer to and by being straight on the page about how service calls are charged. A page that says what it costs to get a van to the door loses you the people who were never going to book and keeps the ones who were.

For the emergency half, barely. For the planned half, completely. Repipes, panel upgrades and bathroom work get researched for a week before anybody calls, and that reading has to happen somewhere.

No. It would be taking money from two people to compete with each other. One plumbing and electrical contractor per service area, and if we are already working with somebody where you are we will tell you on the first call rather than after you have sent a deposit.

What we won't promise you.

An urgent trade is easy to oversell to, because the phone ringing feels like proof and a quiet week feels like failure. Here is the honest version.

Distance is not something we can fix

The map ranks partly on where you are, so there are streets you will not win from your current address whatever anybody does to it. We will tell you which ones, and put the money where you can actually win instead.

We cannot answer your phone

This is the one that costs the most and the one we have no control over. If calls go to voicemail after five, more marketing buys more voicemail. We will say it once, plainly, and then it is yours.

Reviews are the part you have to do

We can ask for them properly, make it one tap, and answer every one in your voice within a day. We cannot leave them and we will not write them. If your techs do not ask at the end of a job you stay behind the shop whose techs do.

Nobody buys a plan they haven't seen.

The free audit is a look at what you already have and what it is costing you, sent over with nothing to sit through. The plan is a conversation about where the business is and where you want it to get to, and it ends with a path written down rather than a quote. Or you call, and somebody who works on accounts picks up.
